The plan to build the coolest web design agency. The road ahead
This post isn’t really for you. It’s more like a message in a bottle for me—a time capsule to revisit a year from now and see how far I’ve come. But if, for some reason, you’re interested in the journey, you’re more than welcome to keep reading.
I firmly believe that anyone with a goal and a clear roadmap to get to that goal, can achieve anything with enough consistence. Alex Hormozi says that consistence means you have to be willing to start the journey and not see results for 36 months.
For me, this is month 25. I started this journey on December 15th 2022, when I finally decided to drop out of Aerospace engineering and pursue this dream. As of now, I’m at zero—zero revenue, at least. But in the past two years, I’ve learned an incredible amount, and now it’s time to put all that knowledge to work.
What follows is a clear outline of my goals for the year ahead. I’m starting from scratch, and it’ll be fun to see what I got right (or wrong) when I review this at the end of the year. I know that it’s unlikely that everything will go according to the plan, but regardless, this is my best attempt at predicting the future.
Hopefully, by the time I write my follow-up – which is gonna be at the end of the year – I’ll have some insights to share with others who are thinking about starting a similar journey.
The quarterly goals
I divided the year in quarterly goals, since all big companies seem to do exactly the same. For every quarter I have set a revenue goal and some “level up” goals. There are so many things I still need to learn in order to get to the ultimate goal of 1M/year revenue, and the first year is going to be heavily focused on learning and developing systems.
So here we go. The goals:
Quarter 1: Jan - Mar 2025
Revenue Goal: $2,500/month by March 31
Primary Focus: Increase foundational skills, showcase expertise, and establish an online presence. Get first customers targeting small businesses
Key Objectives:
Client Acquisition
Contact 20 potential clients daily through cold outreach (local businesses, startups).
Complete 4 high-quality projects for portfolio (focus on value over volume).
Digital Products (Secondary)
Publish 2 Framer template to target designers and generate passive income.
Content Creation
Write 2 blog posts weekly targeting business owners or designers (focus on SEO and value).
Post daily on Twitter/Threads to build an audience.
Skill Development
Dedicate 1 hour daily to learning advanced CRO strategies (e.g., Hotjar, A/B testing).
Execution Plan:
Focus on networking via email, social media, and local connections.
Promote completed projects heavily online.
Use early projects to experiment with basic CRO techniques.
Quarter 2: Apr - Jun 2025
Revenue Goal: $5,000/month by June 30
Primary Focus: Expand services and build scalable systems.
Key Objectives:
Refine Offerings
Start pitching CRO and SEO services to existing web design clients.
Develop a standardized CRO framework for audits and optimization projects.
Content Marketing
Write 2 in-depth case studies and share widely.
Publish 2 blog posts weekly and 1 Instagram Reel or video weekly.
Skill Development
Continue learning advanced CRO and SEO.
Explore GoHighLevel and test integrations for workflow automation.
Execution Plan:
Reach out to marketing agencies for collaboration opportunities.
Automate repetitive tasks (Zapier, etc.) to save time.
Quarter 3: Jul - Sep 2025
Revenue Goal: $7,500/month by September 30
Primary Focus: Scale client acquisition and improve operational efficiency.
Key Objectives:
Expand Client Base
Target mid-sized businesses with larger budgets for CRO-focused projects.
Develop a secondary email list tailored to business owners.
Content and Authority Building
Publish thought leadership pieces on CRO and web design trends.
Collaborate with other agencies or creators for visibility.
Skill Development
Focus on advanced CRO techniques (behavioral segmentation, funnel optimization).
Execution Plan:
Use your portfolio and testimonials to pitch higher-budget clients.
Optimize workflows for increased efficiency, preparing for team expansion.
Quarter 4: Oct - Dec 2025
Revenue Goal: $10,000/month by December 31
Primary Focus: Transition to premium offerings and prepare for scaling.
Key Objectives:
Offer Premium Packages
Shift focus to comprehensive, high-ticket services (web design + CRO + automation).
Offer retainer models to select clients.
Brand Building
Revisit studio branding, including visual identity (e.g., illustrations, storytelling).
Preparation for Scaling
Create detailed SOPs and document workflows to enable hiring or outsourcing.
Execution Plan:
Focus on delivering results for premium clients to establish credibility.
Reflect on progress and plan for 2026.
